Stars and Strollers

Big day today. We went to the movies!
I haven't been to the movies since I saw Baby Mama last summer (I think it was just a few days before I gave birth). So the Cineplex theatres have "Stars and Strollers"
each week - basically a baby friendly movie experience for Moms who are home during the day. They lower the volume a bit, put out a change table and leave the side lights on
so that you can see where your Sophie the giraffe has gone. The real bonus is that it's a room full of Moms and babies, so no one judges you if you're baby is fussing or crying.
So we met up with Rachel and Zoe, grabbed a coffee and then got our seats.
We were seeing Revolutionary Road. Both Mad and Zoe were great throughout the entire 2 hours. They both sat on our laps and watched the movie. We fed them. Maddie napped in my arms. We had no idea what to expect going into this, so I do believe it was a successful trip. The movie was great. A good character film. Beautifully shot. Reminded me of Little Children - except a bit less distrubed.
Oh, we also ran into Martha, Lachlan, Heather and Nolan while we were there. It seems that the movies is the new place to be!!

Also this week.....we took a trip to the library. I decided (in my effort to save money) that Maddy and I would get a library card. I figure we could save a few dollars by borrowing some books and dvds instead of buying them. The library system seems to have evolved since I was last in one. Everything's online so I can search for the books i want and then have them sent to my closest library to pick up. How handy! So I've already placed my order for the new Malcolm Gladwell. I believe I'm #109 out of 113 in line to read the book. So apparently this new library will save me money and teach me patience.

That's all for now! I'll try to get some new pics up tomorrow.

Weekend Update

Was a busy weekend for us!! We started things off on Friday by ordering some pizza (wild times!!). We had officially run out of groceries that were suitable for dinner (unlike me, Michael won't eat pancakes for dinner.....he has dinner "standards") and Michael got home a a bit later than usual from work, so it just seemed easier order in. We have been trying very hard to save money by not eating out. I think in the past month we've now eaten out twice - which is pretty good for us. When we were both working we would usually eat out anywhere between 2-4 times a week. We then settled in to watch our favourite Friday shows: Wifeswap and Supernanny.
Maddy was asleep for most of the Friday evening activies. She now usually goes to bed without much of a fuss and just wakes to feed. So she's sleeping 7pm-7am with anywhere from 3 or 4 feeds in that time. She probably doesn't need to eat that much during the night....but sometimes I'm just weak and I want to cuddle with her. I will likely pay for this in the future!!

Saturday, Michael and Maddy spent the day together while I went to lunch with Cora. We hit up a favourite of ours in Yorkville - Cafe Nervosa. We had our usual favourites along with a few cups of coffee and a glass of wine. We did a quick tour of Indigo books (more coffee) and then headed our separate ways. It's always nice when we get to hangout....just like old times!!
Saturday night I cooked dinner for Michael (had finally found time to pick up groceries). I made stuffed pork tenderloin .....it came stuffed from the butcher so it was tres easy. I went to bed early and Michael stayed up to play some video games.

Today (Sunday) my friend Lindsay (Linz and I go way back to our first year of University. We were on the same floor in residence and also in the same program - Kinesiology. We often had "study parties".....there were many cue cards involved) and I went for coffee at Starbucks on Queen St. I then picked up Maddy and headed to Amber's house for brunch. Mad was very well behaved and just chilled in her car seat with her toys while we ate. Amber then dressed Maddy up in the new outfit she bought her for Christmas. Naptime approached quickly so we had to bust on outta there to get home. After a quick nap we (M&M and myself) headed to a store in the west end to check out cloth diapers. I'll post more about that in a bit. Off to get some juice....maybe watch the Duggar wedding special. LOL

Chatty Maddy

Mad having her afternoon (very brief) nap

Getting ready for a walk outside Wearing her hat in the JJ (just for fun)

Here's the girl in her exersaucer this morning. She was quite the chatty one.
Little girl did not want to have a nap even though Mommy really, really wanted to. She did eventually nap (see above).

Snowy Walk

Made it out for a walk today. Was the first day in a while
that we have braved the cold for a stroller walk.
The temperature was finally above -10. The snow however
was not cleared from the sidewalks.
So it was a short walk. Maddy seemed to really enjoy it. She was
alert (she's often sleepy in the stroller) and was checking out
the neighbourhood.
She clearly did not mind the cold; she kept throwing off the cover of
her bundle bag. A fun game for her because Mommy has to keep
putting it back on her.

More licking, less bouncing

Here are some pics from today. My Mum came down to visit and I got out of the house for a few hours. Was lovely. Went to the mall. Had a latte at Starbucks and read gossip magazines.

Licking her JJ

Looking at Daddy during breakfastSomeone likes mangos! You can see her teeth in this one if you enlarge it.

A new video of Mad in the JJ. She's more interested in tasting the harness than actually jumping.

All about the food

So we've been keeping busy over here! Over the weekend I went to the spa for a massage. It was the first massage since pre-baby times and it was magical. We also had Tony & Amy over for lunch. We heard all about their recent trip to Cozumel and they got to see Maddy. T'was lovely.
The big event of the week was the arrival of my first box of organic produce. I signed up with a company Amber recommended - Front Door Organics. Each week they bring me a box (actually it's a Rubbermaid container) full of organic produce that I've selected. Monday was my first delivery. I was like a little girl waiting to open a birthday present!! It was actually a bit odd how excited I was. My "Fresh Box" (their words.....Michael thinks it's dirty sounding) arrived after dinner time and Michael and I opened it together. We even got a free loaf of bread from Ace Bakery. So far the produce has been impressive. So next Monday we put our empty Rubbermaid container outside and they'll bring us a new one with veggies and fruit in it.
Here's a pic from bath time this week.
In Maddy news.....she's been doing very well with her solids. We're still just doing one feeding per day (around 5pm) and so far she's tried rice cereal, carrots and apples. She seems to like them all (carrots are her least favourite). We'll soon add another feeding of solids (maybe breakfast).
