Princess Dance Party

On the weekend, Madeline and I had a playdate at Cora & Kate's house. As you can see, the girls had a lovely time playing dress-up in the princess outfits. Mads had a great time dancing around the living room, waving her hands in the air etc. The only time she stopped dancing was to push around a baby in the stroller.

Peaches

We packed our bags and headed up north to the cottage for an awesome weekend. The weather was absolutely perfect. We had a couple of friends up there with us which was great - lots of amazing food, drinks and a little bit of cranium action.
Best part of the weekend....discovering Maddy can eat a whole peach. We picked up groceries Friday afternoon on the way up to the cottage. When we arrived, we moved everything into the foyer. I let Maddy hang out here while we brought stuff to the kitchen. A few moments later I return to find her tearing into a whole peach. Took me a few minutes to find my video camera but I was able to catch some of the destruction. Enjoy.

Birthday Party Pictures

It's late....but I wanted to post some pics from Maddy's party on the weekend. I'll put some description in so you get an idea of the afternoon we had. Then, I must go to bed.

We had the party at my parents house - their place is much larger than ours and can fit my family + Michael's family.
Here is Michael opening Mad's gifts. She seems to like the peek a boo book....

After every gift we applauded and then Maddy would applaud. She did this for EVERY gift. You're not an Easter unless you applaud after opening a present.
Eating her birthday cake. This cake was amazing. We had the bakery that did our wedding cake 5 years ago create her birthday cake. We went with the same flavour as well - Lemon and Raspberry. Did I mention how much I love this bakery? This cake was filled with amazing real raspberries. Highly recommend them if you're looking for a cake for a special occassion and I thought the price was very reasonable.

First taste....that cake was soooo tall...so many layers of yumminess

The cake. Super cute. I'll stop talking about it now.

Touring the neighbourhood

When the weather finally turned nice Saturday afternoon, we headed out for a little stroll. Michael's friend Steve was staying with us for about 5 days. He's an RCMP officer in Northern Canada (REAL northern.....the type of place where they have to fly in your food and a 6 pack of coke is $20). He joined us for the walk and we showed him the neighbourhood. Maddy wanted to point things out to him, but clearly was too busy sucking her fingers.

Trip to the movies

This week we took a trip to the movies to see "Duplicity". We met up with Heather and Nolan and Martha, sans Lachlan. Maddy sat like a big girl on her seat (which I kind of had to hold down with my own leg or it would fold up on her). She got fussy about a quarter of the way through so we stepped out into the hallway to have a little cry. I came back in, fed her a little and then she cuddled on my lap for the rest of the movie. I must have missed some important plot points when we stepped out though, cause I was not able to follow the plot at all! Even though I couldn't follow the movie, I was still entertained! Now that is the sign of a good movie :) I will have to rent it again to actually understand it.

Stars and Strollers

Big day today. We went to the movies!
I haven't been to the movies since I saw Baby Mama last summer (I think it was just a few days before I gave birth). So the Cineplex theatres have "Stars and Strollers"
each week - basically a baby friendly movie experience for Moms who are home during the day. They lower the volume a bit, put out a change table and leave the side lights on
so that you can see where your Sophie the giraffe has gone. The real bonus is that it's a room full of Moms and babies, so no one judges you if you're baby is fussing or crying.
So we met up with Rachel and Zoe, grabbed a coffee and then got our seats.
We were seeing Revolutionary Road. Both Mad and Zoe were great throughout the entire 2 hours. They both sat on our laps and watched the movie. We fed them. Maddie napped in my arms. We had no idea what to expect going into this, so I do believe it was a successful trip. The movie was great. A good character film. Beautifully shot. Reminded me of Little Children - except a bit less distrubed.
Oh, we also ran into Martha, Lachlan, Heather and Nolan while we were there. It seems that the movies is the new place to be!!

Also this week.....we took a trip to the library. I decided (in my effort to save money) that Maddy and I would get a library card. I figure we could save a few dollars by borrowing some books and dvds instead of buying them. The library system seems to have evolved since I was last in one. Everything's online so I can search for the books i want and then have them sent to my closest library to pick up. How handy! So I've already placed my order for the new Malcolm Gladwell. I believe I'm #109 out of 113 in line to read the book. So apparently this new library will save me money and teach me patience.

That's all for now! I'll try to get some new pics up tomorrow.

Weekend Update

Was a busy weekend for us!! We started things off on Friday by ordering some pizza (wild times!!). We had officially run out of groceries that were suitable for dinner (unlike me, Michael won't eat pancakes for dinner.....he has dinner "standards") and Michael got home a a bit later than usual from work, so it just seemed easier order in. We have been trying very hard to save money by not eating out. I think in the past month we've now eaten out twice - which is pretty good for us. When we were both working we would usually eat out anywhere between 2-4 times a week. We then settled in to watch our favourite Friday shows: Wifeswap and Supernanny.
Maddy was asleep for most of the Friday evening activies. She now usually goes to bed without much of a fuss and just wakes to feed. So she's sleeping 7pm-7am with anywhere from 3 or 4 feeds in that time. She probably doesn't need to eat that much during the night....but sometimes I'm just weak and I want to cuddle with her. I will likely pay for this in the future!!

Saturday, Michael and Maddy spent the day together while I went to lunch with Cora. We hit up a favourite of ours in Yorkville - Cafe Nervosa. We had our usual favourites along with a few cups of coffee and a glass of wine. We did a quick tour of Indigo books (more coffee) and then headed our separate ways. It's always nice when we get to hangout....just like old times!!
Saturday night I cooked dinner for Michael (had finally found time to pick up groceries). I made stuffed pork tenderloin .....it came stuffed from the butcher so it was tres easy. I went to bed early and Michael stayed up to play some video games.

Today (Sunday) my friend Lindsay (Linz and I go way back to our first year of University. We were on the same floor in residence and also in the same program - Kinesiology. We often had "study parties".....there were many cue cards involved) and I went for coffee at Starbucks on Queen St. I then picked up Maddy and headed to Amber's house for brunch. Mad was very well behaved and just chilled in her car seat with her toys while we ate. Amber then dressed Maddy up in the new outfit she bought her for Christmas. Naptime approached quickly so we had to bust on outta there to get home. After a quick nap we (M&M and myself) headed to a store in the west end to check out cloth diapers. I'll post more about that in a bit. Off to get some juice....maybe watch the Duggar wedding special. LOL

Visit with Lachlan & Nolan

Today we headed to the west end to visit Heather and Martha and their babies Nolan and Lachlan. Here's a pic. Mad was a bit cranky when this was taken. I know Heather and Martha through Michael - they all did their MBA together. I'm hijacking them as friends.

Visit with Zoe

Haven't been able to add to the blog since Michael has been messing around with the computer! On Thursday we had Rachel and her daughter Zoe over for coffee. Zoe is about 3 weeks younger than Mad but they're pretty much the same size and they seem to enjoy the same things....Sophie, Moms boobs, tv, sitting in vibrating chairs.

Here they are watching Rachel put on a puppet show (okay, they're really watching baby einstein).

Here is Madeline playing and then sleeping surrounded by her toys

Playdate with Kate

Cora sent along these pics of our playdate a week ago. Yes, Kate is not wearing pants....but then again Mad has a hat with ears on it.
