Fun time at the splash pad

Friday night we headed to the splash pad in the beaches. It was hot and we felt like Mads deserved some fun with Mom and Dad. She loves the splash pad. I usually stand back and wonder how much pee is in that shallow body of water. Below are the pics.
In other news, our DCP says that Maddy took about 4-5 steps on her own today!! Woot woot! Today is her official birthday which means that she officially started to walk on her birthday. I have yet to witness it though...is this like a tree in the woods with no one around?

To the Beach!

We had quite the little water baby on our hands this weekend. Saturday we hit up the splash pad at the Beaches. We were only planning on visiting the park for some swing action, but with the crazy heat and the sight of the water we thought it was only fair that Mads got to strip down to her diaper and splash around for a while.

Sunday we headed to Kelso beach with some friends. I had my camera this time and was able to get some pics of the water baby. She was loving the water and sand and even made a few friends while she was out there. She does a funny little crawl on the sand and won't put her knees down.

Dolly

I think I've mentioned a few times on this blog that Madeline likes to suck on her fingers while playing with her hair (or my hair, or her dad's hair....anyone's hair she can get a hold of!). I started to think that this may be a hard habit to break if it continues on for much longer.
So we went on the search for a doll with real feeling hair. My hope was that Madeline would play with the doll's hair instead of mine/hers. So far it is working :)

Man I love it when my theories work out!!

Happy Birthday Nana

Nana celebrated her birthday last week and Madeline made her a note. We took pictures with the note and then tried to throw it down the stairs.

Morning!

It takes a lot to get me out of bed. A LOT! I love my sleep and I especially love sleeping in. There is nothing that gets me out of bed faster though, than the sound of Maddy talking to herself in her crib and saying "Mama. Mama. Mama". And this is usually what I'm greeted with.

As soon as I go into her room, she starts to point at all the things she wants to see. Everything is "dat, dat". Her favourite thing is to look at picture of her on the wall.

I see a trend developing

The newest thing around our house is Maddy's desire to climb into things. Over the weekend, every time I turned around she was sitting in something new. Sometimes she was happy with her decision. Other times she was not.

Visit with the Fam

Tonight we headed to my parent's house for a birthday celebration for my sister Jen who turned 30!! Woot woot! Her friend Tammy from Australia was in Canada for a couple of weeks so she also joined. Jen and Tammy were friends when we lived there and have kept in touch all these years...isn't that nice!?
Anyhoo, here are the pics.
With her Uncle Matt....one eye on the box of Cheerios
Uncle Matt trying to "hat" her
I think she's trying to get the Cheerio's back from UM

Time with the birthday girl

Cruising the yard with Aunty Dre (is that what you wanted to be called??)

Also, I'm a few days late on this, but Madeline turned 11 months old a few days ago. WOW! Countdown to the birthday party begins. I must get my butt in gear!

Someone likes her bookie-wooks

Honestly, I don't know too many kids Maddy's age, but I'm pretty sure that most babies this age don't spend a lot of time with their books. I could be wrong. Feel free to correct me.
Mads loooooves her books. Most nights she will spend about 20-30 minutes "reading" them quietly on her own in the playroom (playroom = what used to be my living room). She turns the pages and looks at all of the pictures and then moves onto the next book. Occassionaly she'll put the book in her mouth or suck on her fingers while petting the "fur" in the books. If there are animals she'll point and "woof" at them. It's all very entertaining. I could sit and watch her do this for hours!

Reunion Pics

Back from Chicago!! Had a lovely (and very busy) time. But busy is good as it helped keeping me from missing little lady too much. I was so excited to get back on Saturday afternoon to see her. I swear she changed so much in the 3 days I was gone.

I had mentioned that Rob took some pics of Mads when we were at the family reunion. Here are a few - I'll try to get more up soon! I love tha she wasn't posed for any of these shots - Rob just hung out with us and grabbed a bunch of shots. I think they turned out beautifully.

Here she's playing with her cousin Alabama.

With her da-da. I love this pic. I see Michael and Maddy together like this all the time and it's just really great to have it captured.

Love this...
