Since Madeline seems to always want to drink from my cup, I decided to try and let her have her own cup. Clearly she is not quite ready for this stage.

New Winter Duds
So it's only Mid-October and I'm already wondering when spring will be here. sigh. You may recall my aching desire for Spring to arrive earlier this year. Well that feeling is back earlier than ever. I'm already missing the days of throwing on some flip flops to get Mads to daycare. Now there are so many extra steps. Pants, socks, shoes, t-shirt, hoody, jacket, mitts, toque. Warming up the car. We aren't even dealing with snow yet and already it's adding about 20 minutes onto our morning routine.

New Favourite Game
Maddy has a rocking chair in her room (it's been around since I was a baby....and probably before that) and she's just discovered it. Normally her stuffed animals are on the chair but recently she's started to pull the animals off the chair and demand that she get to sit up there. Once she's on the chair, she then requests that the animals join her. You must remember that she only knows about 4 words (Dad, banana, dog, woof) so all of this communicating is done through pointing and occassionally crying (her, not me). But as you can see, once she's up there she's a happy little lady.

Walking
So I had mentioned it in my last post and now you can see it for yourselves! Here she is marching through the kitchen. Also, I'd like to point out that she now says "anana" when she is eating her banana and she is actively working on figuring out her "shape sorter" toys. Pretty soon she'll be putting the square through the square hole!!

Eye Infection
I've told you all many times about Madeline's obsession with hair and sucking her fingers. Well, I do believe she has now given me an eye infection because of this. Every morning she cuddles with me in bed. She lies on her side and sucks her fingers and plays with my eyebrows and eyelashes. I let her do it because it means I can lie in bed quietly for an extra 20 minutes. I now have an eye infection on my upper eyelid and I'm guessing that's why!!

A new hat
Madeline was given this beautiful bonnet for her birthday and so I decided to try it on her this morning. She played for quite a while before she realized something was on her head.
In other news, we had a fabulous looooong weekend. Mads must be going through a growth spurt or something because she's been having some long naps. 2 hours in the am and 2 hours in the afternoon. No complaints here. On Sunday and Monday, Michael and I joined her for the afternoon nap and it was lovely!! That doesn't happen very often.

Walking
I forgot to mention that Madeline is now taking about 3-4 steps on her own. She then crashes big time into whatever she is near. She'll also cruise around the house now holding just one of my hands (before she needed to hold both). I hope to get a video of it as soon as Cora lets me have my turn with the Flip video camcorder we're testing out for Mom Central.

Happy Birthday Madeline!!
Today (Monday) Madeline turns 1 year old. Sigh. I'm not going to get all emotional about this. Babies grow up, it's what they do! But what I will say is that this tiny baby has grown into my little lady and stolen the hearts of everyone around her. I expect her to keep doing just that for years to come.
It's hard to believe that this was a year ago tomorrow. I'm writing this post at 10:45 on the 23rd. At this time last year, Maddy was still in my belly. We were still at home and I was in labour. 7 hours later....here she was :) Wow. I'm more emotional looking back at these pictures now than I was when I was in the moment.
